Taking a big gamble in event management is a strange feeling. Right up until the doors open, you are constantly asking yourself if the risk is going to pay off. But when you walk into a room and see over 400 people shouting, celebrating, and soaking in an atmosphere you built from scratch, every bit of stress becomes worth it.

That was exactly the reality for us at Basuri Events during the IPL Final 2026 match between Gujarat and Bangalore.

Here is the story of how we took a massive gamble on a 500-capacity venue near Southbank, turned a simple match broadcast into a full-scale fan festival, and ended up with a houseful event that set a new benchmark for cricket fans in the UK.

Spotting the Gap: Beyond the Standard Pub Setup

The Indian Premier League is easily one of the biggest sporting spectacles on the planet. Yet, for cricket fans living in or visiting London, the options to watch the final together were always pretty limited. You either watched it on your sofa at home or crowded into a local pub with a small screen and average audio.

We knew the UK diaspora wanted something much bigger. We wanted to recreate that genuine stadium energy, loud music, incredible food, massive screens, and hundreds of passionate fans under one roof.

So, we decided to make history and host the UK's first proper large-scale IPL Final screening.

Taking the Gamble at Three Bridges, Southbank

Planning an event of this scale in central London comes with huge financial and operational risks. Venue hire isn't cheap, logistics are tight, and if the crowd doesn't show up, you take a serious hit.

We set our eyes on Three Bridges near Southbank. It was an incredible 500-capacity venue in a prime location, but filling a space that big for a niche sporting event was a huge test.

Pulling it off took an insane amount of hustle behind the scenes:

1. Finding the Right Space & Ground Coordination: Our Business Development Executive, Soham Pathak, was absolute class throughout the process. He spearheaded the venue search, built the relationship with the venue owners, and coordinated all the complex on-the-ground contact logistics at Southbank to make sure we actually secured the spot.

2. Smart Ticketing & Operations: Ashish Uolowar, our founder & COO, took charge of the commercial side, managing our ticketing strategy and sales distribution. To make sure venue entry and food service ran smoothly without huge queues, we bundled offer coupons directly with entry tickets. This gave guests a hassle-free experience the moment they walked through the door.

3. Building a 360-Degree Fan Experience: We knew the cricket match alone wasn't enough to justify a 500-cap venue. We turned it into a day-out experience by booking live musical performances, bringing in guest DJs for pre- and post-match sets, and setting up authentic food & Beverage options.

The Big Day: 425 People Show up!

When match day finally arrived, all the late nights and planning paid off in the best way possible.

We went houseful, packing over 400 spots.

From the very first ball to the final over of the Gujarat vs Bangalore clash, the energy in Three Bridges was electric. People were singing along with the live music, chanting for their teams, enjoying great food, and celebrating together like they were sitting right inside the stadium. It proved without a doubt that London was starving for a real, high-calibre cricket fan fest.

This screening was a massive milestone for us, but it is really just the beginning. A huge thank you goes out to every single person who bought a ticket, brought their mates, and created an unforgettable atmosphere with us.

We learned a lot, proved that taking calculated risks pays off, and now we are already looking toward our next major project.
